Softbums Calender bums review nebula.... Coming soon

Rock-a-bums diapers Review

Rock-a-bums diapers have become my new favorite diaper. The patterns are to die for. The fit is better then any glove I have ever owned. To top it off they can be used in many ways.
The adorable diapers will run you just shy of 17 bucks each. They exclude 2 microfiber fleece topped inserts/soakers. They come in rockin basic colors of red black and white and some fabulous prints like the green plaid. The pul is the softest most stretchy I have encountered.  It's like water proof silk. The leg elastic is thin helping for a snug fit. But the waist elastic is thicker for a comfy fit. You can choose snaps or velcro. The snaps are off set and give a multiplier of sizing choices. The velcro is super strong. So strong it has been hard for me to unfasten at times. It defiantly takes two hands.

I do not typically like microfiber, but the fleece top on the rock a bums its pretty cool. The idea of the 5 in one is great. Use it as a pocket or just a cover. Or throw the inserts on top and call it an AI2. This is a great way to test the waters of all the different types of diapers. I use the fleece covered insert on top of a babmboo insert for overnights. I lay them on top of the diaper and no matter how pee soaked the inserts are I dont have to touch them to pull them out of the pocket. I have loved this so much as has daddy. The inserts also have a snap. There are snaps in both the front and back of the cover. So again you get to choose what works best for you. They also have a hybrid insert option as well.

The diapers have a wonderful fit and such a great range of sizing options. I wish I would have found them sooner as my whole stash may have all been rock a bums.

Next lets talk costumer service. I have dealt with a fee cloth diaper sellers over the past year. And Rock a bums takes the cake. I won three diapers in a drawing. One of the diapers the leg elastic broke after the first wash. As we all know this can happen from time to time. I wrote a quick email asking if I could exchange the diaper. They said NO. Instead they sent me a new diaper. I got to choose t he pattern the closure and everything and I received the diaper in less then a week.

I highly recommend these diapers. They are my favorites.

Applecheeks size two review

I heard about applecheecks early in looking into cloth diapers. They sounded great but being the penny pincher I am I couldn't bear to spend the nearly 20 on just the cover. But my curiosity got the best of me and I just had to try one. So with a little tax refund money and permission for the spouse.

The laminate on the Applecheecks seems so thin to me. It reminds me of swim suite material. Although thin feeling I have not had any issues with it to speak of. I just feel it is more fragile. I don't particularly like fragile expensive things.

The sewing however is splendid. The frills around the legs, tummy and rear just give a well done look. The elastics leaves a more settle red mark and seems very comfortable.  The fact that there is elastic in front is something I love. This not only gives the diaper a more finished look it helps hold in messes and keeps the waist line from folding over.

The fit is perfect. not over saggy and fairly trip with a good range of waist line size adjustments. The envelope opening still holds all the mess. Personally I never leave an insert in a diaper. Unfortunately the middle opening makes for having to get your hands a little messy if your like me and just not willing to take a chance the insert won't come out.

For me these diapers are just not worth the extra money for a good fitting diaper. But if you love to buy local then that's the price you will have to pay. I do recommend them if they are in your price range, but f not I promise you are not missing out all that much in my opinion.

Nursing a one year old and beyond

My little guy is now nearly a year and a half old.  Time has flown faster with him being a second child then it did with my first. And time with her had already been going too fast. It seems to me every month of nursing brings new changes. How is a mama to cope?

1- Baby (yes I said baby) takes up more room now. Be sure to keep your arm and back well supported. Even if nursing sessions have become shorter, it is important your body is comfortable and ergonomic. Don't toss that nursing pillow yet. And don't be afraid to try new positions. If baby wants to try nursing sitting up. Help him to insure a good latch and let them munch.  If it become Uncomfortable, break the latch and adjust. Take care of your body mama's it's the only one you got.

2- At this point your supply might slowly decrease. This can cause some breastfeeding tenderness. Try to, as best baby will allow, have a few regular nursing times. I try to always nurse before he goes to bed. Offering the beast before meals can also help maintain a long term supply.

3- Keep hydrated. It is as important now as ever. When out and about a sip of breastfeeding milk can be better for hydration then plain water. That's exactly how for Emily works. It is the thirst clencher.

4- Be flexible. Don't feel like baby has to nurse everyday. If you miss a day your supply will not dry up over night. It's takes weeks and sometimes months for breast to completely stop producing.

5- Enjoy every moment.  At any day any time weaning could begin. You will miss it I promise. So hold close to each moment. Engage in eye contact, smile, talk, and sing or read.  Make the most of the time you won't regret it.
